FUMCFW Hosts Artists Peter Mayer And Elizabeth Wills For Its December 20 Winter Concert
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) On December 20 at 7:00 pm, the eve of Winter Solstice, First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth welcomes Minnesota's Peter Mayer and local favorite, Elizabeth Wills, to its Wesley Hall stage for A Winter Concert. Doors open at 7:00, and music begins at 7:30. Seating is first-come, first-served.

Peter Mayer, a long-time favorite performer at this annual FUMCFW concert, is hailed by music critics for his "passionate, percussive guitar style," and original "lyrics of conscience." A student of the world as much as a teacher of the deeper connections in life, Peter's songs unfold like a good book you can't put down. At times deeply spiritual and at other times playfully mischievous, Mayer's songs surprise, amaze, and build bridges of common experience between disparate world views. "As a songwriter I enjoy leaving room for people to find their own kind of faith reflected in my songs," Peter says. "I often do try to focus on what people have in common — religious beliefs or shared citizenry of the world — to bridge those barriers rather than favoring one theology."

Sharing a split billing with Mayer this year, local favorite Elizabeth Wills brings her own beautifully rendered songwriting, delivered in her trademark rich (some call it intoxicating) vocal style. According to Dalis Allen, Producer of the Kerrville Folk Festival, "Elizabeth Wills is one of those artists that you can discover over and over again and love her every time." With a selection of songs that chronicle the glass-half-full journeys and joys of love, romance, and being thankful for what you've been given, Elizabeth's heartfelt and clarified on-stage intimacy "wraps around the listener's heart with instant familiarity and warmth," says artist Sara Hickman, "like a long lost friend you've been waiting to meet." Critics hail Wills' style and delivery as reminiscent of female singer/songwriter greats such as Carly Simon, Shawn Colvin and Sarah McLachlan.

Each of these artists will play a full set, and will wrap this special holiday concert by sharing the stage for a final few selections together. Tickets for this uplifting midwinter spirit boost are $20 each, available online or at the door. Parking is free, complimentary beverages are hot, and desserts are provided by local venues including Nothing Bundt Cakes. For more information, visit www.fumcfw/winterconcert.
