Oscars Favor HMMA Picks
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) The nominees for the 87th Academy Awards were announced, and follow a recurring trend this awards season; HMMA winners are in the mix. Two of the Oscar nominees for Best Original Song, "Lost Stars" (Begin Again) written by Gregg Alexander & Danielle Brisebois and "Everything is Awesome" (The Lego Movie) written by Shawn Patterson, both won at the Hollywood Music In Media Awards event held November 4, 2014 at The Fonda Theater, Hollywood. Following suit in the Oscar race are HMMA nominees for Best Score; Alexandre Desplat (The Imitation Game), Hans Zimmer (Interstellar) and Jóhann Jóhannsson (The Theory of Everything).

Joining in the love fest...The 57th Annual Grammy Awards. The Recording Academy's nominees include "Everything is Awesome" (The Lego Movie) for Best Song Written for Visual Media and "Guardians of the Galaxy" for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media, both HMMA award winners.

HMMA has repeatedly recognized individuals and projects long before traditional award accolades are announced. Virtually every 2015 award event that has categories for music, including The Golden Globes, Oscars, Grammys and Satellite Awards include 2014 HMMA nominees and winners.

Here's an excerpt from The Hollywood Reporter's Scott Feinberg column on November 5, 2014 (the day after the HMMA's): "Best original score and best original song are two of the few categories presented at the Oscars that aren't first presented at many earlier awards shows. The categories are represented at the Critics' Choice and Golden Globe events, but do not have an event of their own in the way that many others do via corresponding guilds and societies. So the HMM Awards are perhaps the biggest showcase for Oscar-contending songs that we'll have until those others come along next month."
The HMMA congratulates all the individuals recognized in this year's crop of exceptional nominees!
