Brill is British slang for "cool" and the name of the flat fish which is the group's logo. Brill is the current collaboration between singer-songwriters Brooke Trout (www.brooketrout.com) and Dave Strauss (www.flatcatrecords.net). Dave Strauss has released nine albums on his own label Flat Cat Records. He was a founding member of the experimental band X-CEPTIONS as well as a member of the critically acclaimed Jeannie Willets Band. He was also the former host of Flat Cat Radio where Brooke was a monthly co-host. Dave previously performed and recorded with Brooke Trout and The Anchormen on the album Networth. Brooke Trout has released three albums to date which have made playlists in major markets across the country. She has performed at several historic venues including The Roxy Theatre, The Viper Room and House of Blues. Her last music project Chasing Windmills with the band The Red Herring made the WPNR, WXIN and The Deli Magazine charts.
Brill has performed live in support of nonprofits including Foodshare and the San Fernando Valley Arts Council since the group's formation in 2013. "Brill means little fish... and let me just say, these two have some SERIOUS guitar skills, and their voices have a beautiful blend." -Linda Geleris, Founder of Songnet (https://www.thesongnet.org/)
