New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Trinidad raga soca superstar Bunji Garlin, who won the Soul
Train Award for Best International Performance of Differentology in 2013, is fired up about his hot new Ska-Teck project titled 'Hall of Fame' that was recently recorded with Jamaica's music ambassador Richie Stephens.
"It is a honor and a privilege to work with an artiste of the caliber of Richie Stephens on this new Ska-Teck project. It is a fantastic song and I am all about doing new projects like this. It is our first time working together and I hope it is not last" Bunji gushed.
He recalls the first time the two met.
"The very first time I heard about Richie Stephens was from the collaboration song 'Maniac' he did with Bounty Killer. The very first time I met him in person was at a festival in
Chicago about 14 years ago. This collaboration makes me now realize that our meeting in
Chicago was not by chance but was god doing his work from way back then" he said.
Bunji, one of the few raga soca crossover artists, garnered mainstream success with the
Major Lazer Differentology remix, which hit the Billboard chart and earned him a prime spot on the play list of urban stations across the USA. The song was featured on an episode of the prime time TV drama Greys Anatomy and landed him a deal with RCA Records for the release of 'Differentology' on the major label imprint.
Singer Richie Stephens, who has been on a musical high for the past three years with hit singles 'Live Your Life,' 'I Found Heaven,' 'Everybody Dance' and current Mother's Day tribute song 'Mama,' is extremely proud of the 'Hall Of Fame' project.
"This extraordinary collaboration with Bunji is more than just a song. It is a positive movement. It is a coming together and a unification that everyone from Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago and the entire Caribbean community will embrace" he declared.
'Hall of Fame' will be officially released later this month. It was co-produced by Carl Morrison - whose credit includes Busy Signal's 'Night Shift' - and award winning dancehall/ hip hop music producer Steven "Lenky" Marsden. Marsden's produced Sean Paul's #1 Billboard hit single 'Get Busy' on the Diwali riddim and Wayne Wonder's 'No Letting Go' which peaked at #11 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #3 on the UK singles chart.
