The Outcat Paul Knopf Displays His Spirituality On His New Piano Jazz Album
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Piano Jazz Veteran and host of the Outcat Show Podcast, Paul Knopf is gearing up for the release of his Christian Piano Jazz album titled "Through It All." The exotic piano jazz album is an instrumental jazz interpretation of various popular Christian hymns. "Through It All," by The Outcat Paul Knopf is a digital LP inspired by his life tribulations and experience working as a band leader in the Green Haven Maximum Security Prison. The inspirational Jazz LP will be available for digital download on CD Baby.

In Paul Knopf's own words: "When things get rough and morbid your only way out is God. I've reached my mental threshold time and time again. When I was an infantry rifleman in World War Two I used to run to the military Chaplin's office and hide there out of fear of being blown up. Many years later I segued in to a downward spiral that led to an inferno due to my alcoholism. When my alcoholism evoked the grim reaper, I found myself running to God again. Being a band leader in the Green Haven Maximum Security Prison was a life epiphany for me. I saw a lot of me in those hardened prisoners. I went in once a week to the Green Haven Maximum Security Prison from the late '80's to 1995. I worked with a jazz ensemble of prisoners as a pianist/composer/arranger. As a leader I encouraged leadership and also encouraged prisoners to write arrangements. I played in a band - gospel and jazz - for a Friday night Pentecostal service. There were prisoners who were doing 20 to life for murder and crimes of violence. It was eerie but awesome to see a lifer get up and testify his sins because he was moved by the Holy Spirit. What really rocked me was how the prisoners told me that they felt the spirit in my music. The program discontinued in 1995 after Pataki became governor. It was a shame that the program discontinued. These prisoners were really moved by the spirit of the Christian Jazz music and I felt a deep respect for them because they were locked up and striped of everything but they still had their spirit. These songs on the Through It All digital LP that you can download on CD Baby are the songs the prisoners and I played in Green Haven. Through It All, the digital LP on CD Baby is a tribute to those prisoners and a testament to my life as well."

Through It All by Paul Knopf is available for download on CDBABY right now.
