CLARKSTON, Mich. (AP) - Shock rocker Marilyn Manson was arraigned on a sexual misconduct charge stemming from allegations that he gyrated against the neck and head of a security guard during a July concert in Michigan.

Manson, whose real name is Brian Warner, is charged with criminal sexual conduct and assault and battery. If convicted on the felony sexual conduct charge, he could face up to two years in prison.

An innocent plea was entered Friday on Manson's behalf.

Manson's lawyer Walter J. Piszczatowski said he hopes to get the charges dismissed.
"He's taking it seriously," Piszczatowski said. "He flew in on the 'red-eye' from California during the worst time to fly in the nation's history. Obviously he's taking it seriously.''

The prosecutor's office had issued a warrant against Manson, 32, in August, but the performer was out of the country when the charges were filed. A preliminary examination was set for Oct. 9.
