Clotilde Bring Voice Of American Songstresses To Spring Asia Tour
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) MusicDish*China announced the dates for French Jazz singer Clotilde's Spring Asia Tour in June. Clotilde will be joined by pianist Alexandre Saada to introduce their new project "Madeleine et Salomon," an audio-visual featuring songs of American songstresses who have used their voice to describe femininity and the society they were living in. In addition to the Shanghai region, Clotilde will play three dates across Taiwan before heading for Australia.

June 12 - Nanjing, Don Quixote Jazz & Blues Bar
June 13 - Shanghai, Chair Club
June 17 - Taipei, Marsalis Home
June 18 - Kaohsiung, Marsalis Bar
June 19 - Kaohsiung, In Our Time
Commissioned by the The Melbourne Recital Center who re-invited Clotilde for its American Songbook program, 'Madeleine et Salomon' will be previewed at Les Enchanteuses Festival in Paris on April 18th.

"During our 2014 China tours, we were particularly touched by the art of calligraphy," noted Clotilde who performed Beijing Music Day in July 2014 as well as OCT-LOFT Jazz Festival. "From those emotions, felt viewing this art oscillating between respect of strict codes and individualistic mark of the calligrapher, the desire this new project "Madeleine et Salomon" was born. Our desire is to use the melody's breath as the calligrapher plays with the broad strokes and fine strokes to create a minimalist music stamped in impressionist poetry."

In the project's first chapter called "A Woman's Journey," Clotilde and Alex mash-up reinterpretations of female American songwriters' protest songs and free improvisations inspired by dreamlike short films or a dancer's "escapades". Clotilde and Alexandre

French Jazz singer/performer/song-writer, coming from the new generation of French jazz musicians, she went into music school at the age of 5 and studied the flute and singing. Clotilde Rullaud's artistic approach stands at the crossroad of various musical influences. She blends together Latin, African, pop and jazz sounds, attesting to the wonderful melting pot that is jazz. Poetry and the inner music of words also hold a key place in her artistic world. Clotilde aims above all to challenge what can be done with song and with the voice in order to reach her full expression, escaping from standard configurations to express her love for freedom.
