"During our 2014 China tours, we were particularly touched by the art of calligraphy," noted Clotilde who performed Beijing
Music Day in July 2014 as well as OCT-LOFT Jazz Festival. "From those emotions, felt viewing this art oscillating between respect of strict codes and individualistic mark of the calligrapher, the desire this new project "Madeleine et Salomon" was born. Our desire is to use the melody's breath as the calligrapher plays with the broad strokes and fine strokes to create a minimalist music stamped in impressionist poetry."
In the project's first chapter called "A Woman's Journey," Clotilde and Alex mash-up reinterpretations of female American songwriters' protest songs and free improvisations inspired by dreamlike short films or a dancer's "escapades". Clotilde and Alexandre

She blends together Latin, African, pop and jazz sounds, attesting to the wonderful melting pot that is jazz. Poetry and the inner music of words also hold a key place in her artistic world. Clotilde aims above all to challenge what can be done with song and with the voice in order to reach her full expression, escaping from standard configurations to express her love for freedom.
