LONDON, UK (Top 40 Charts) - Pint-sized singer Kylie Minogue has stomped all over her pop rival Victoria Beckham with her kitten heels, easily winning their much-hyped chart battle to clinch the No. 1 spot on the British charts Sunday.

Minogue's new single "Can't Get You Out of My Head" shot straight to the top in its first week, far outstripping Spice Girl Beckham's "Not Such an Innocent Girl" which limped in at No. 6, according to figures released by the CIN chart service.

The pop face-off dominated tabloids for several weeks in the run-up to the release of the singles last Monday.

Beckham's second solo effort coincided with the release of her autobiography and a deluge of newspaper and magazine interviews, but record shops said Minogue's single immediately begain outselling her rival's by eight to one.

The Australian singer's hit ousted DJ Otzi's cover version of "Hey Baby" from the top spot, nudging it into second place.

Another cover, "Smooth Criminal" by Alien Ant Farm, was the second highest new entry at No. 3 while Bob the Builder's "Mambo No. 5" slipped two places to No. 4.

Shaggy's "Luv Me Luv Me," also a new release, rounded out the top five.
