Sweet Spirit To Open For Spoon In LA On May 30 + 31 - Stream Britt Daniel + SS 7"
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) This weekend, the Austin, TX based nine-piece Sweet Spirit will open for Spoon at the Wiltern on May 30 and at the Teragram Ballroom on May 31. In advance of their west coast tour together, Sweet Spirit and Britt Daniel collaborated on a 7" that was produced by Mike McCarthy (Spoon, ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead).

Stereogum premiered the "stomping, gorgeous" A-side single "Have Mercy" that was penned by Sabrina Ellis and Andrew Cashen of Sweet Spirit and Spoon's Britt Daniel.

SPIN premiered the B-side single, a cover of Spoon's "Paper Tiger" from their 2002 release Kill The Moonlight. Harley Brown said, "For this version Sweet Spirit take off faster, harder, and punk-ier, replacing the original's percussive blasts of distorted air with rapid-fire hi-hats and blasts of ska horns."

Earlier this year, the band released their debut self-titled EP via Nine Mile Records.
Known to long-time Austinites for their work in A Giant Dog and Bobby Jealousy, Sweet Spirit proudly strengthens a decade-plus collaboration between writing partners Sabrina Ellis and Andrew Cashen.

Following a performance at the 2015 SXSW Music Conference, Todd Martens of The Los Angeles Times called Sweet Spirit "The musical embodiment of a pep rally, the promising band is all arms-in-the-air shout-alongs." Deborah Sengupta-Stith of the Austin American-Statesman said "Sabrina Ellis is a force of nature. Her voice soars, pierces through swells of sound even when she's barreling into a guitar riff or go-go dancing (which she does frequently and enthusiastically)."

Mike McCarthy will produce their first record, due in summer 2015 on Nine Mile Records.
