Comprised of singer-songwriter Justin
Howard and guitarist/electronic mixer Nick Wisse, V Y D developed their sound in Southern California as a result of inspiration found in the surf, freeways, sunshine and 90′s Alternative rock and hip hop music. Now based in Brooklyn, New York and adding NuDisco/Deep House to their influences, V Y D still delivers a sun-soaked and warm summer flavor to their unique style which is ever-evident on RETROGRADE.
Howard describes V Y D's sound to Myspace.com-who featured the group as an "Artist of the Day"-as, "Alt-electronic. Kind of like if house music and Third Eye
Blind had a baby to our songs." You can take a stream/share "Rockets" and "Hot Water"-which premiered on DIFFUSER.FM (4/30)-from RETROGRADE via the group's SoundCloud HERE.

Praise for VYD and RETROGRADE thus far:
"If there is anywhere to find the brightest and catchiest music for your pool party this summer, look no further than V Y D's new EP Retrograde…the five songs on this EP are a fine collection of Disclosure-esque Pop House that is equal parts forward thinking and nostalgic, commingled with Howard's sleek Soul-tinged vocal stylings anoints each track with an infectious feel. Though Electronics are very present on this release, V Y D's sound is very organic. The guitars, vocals and drum machine on 'Sedate Me' all coalesce into a sugary treat better than any you can get on Venice Beach… these guys are bringing a fresh twist to the summer jam, so don't miss out!" - Kieran Macintyre, MONSTERSANDCRITICS.COM, May 27, 2015
"Keep an eye on these guys as they continue to steadily move up in the ranks with each of their releases." - Paige Fuentes, EARMILK, August 4, 2014
"Laced with sounds inspired by '90s rock and hip-hop - and on occasion, some sick Nile Rodgers-esque guitar licks - the new disc encompasses the best of both rock and roll and electronic music…VYD take their influences and inspirations and deliver an unforgettable, sun-soaked listening experience - just in time for the heat of the summer." - Chuck Armstrong, DIFFUSER.FM, April 30, 2015
"…the album's first single 'Rockets.' The power ballad features gentle guitars, reverbed vocals, and a hand-clapped beat. It sounds a bit like Hall & Oates being remix by St. Lucia; it is warm and danceable, a true baby-making anthem." -Adam Morgan, SURVIVINGTHEGOLDENAGE.COM, March 11, 2015
"The Alt-Electronic duo V Y D continue to build a loyal fan base with their latest track 'Rockets' - the first single from the duo's upcoming EP - which is crafted with their unique musical blend of electronic beats and electric guitar accents and licks." - Angie Cadoret, SOONNIGHT.COM, March 27, 2015
"…the group takes dance music to a new level. VYD charms with its interlacing electronic melodies and an undeniably catchy beat. The rock element is an interesting plus, soaking what would usually just be a good dance number with some tangible instruments, making their noise a fun banter between two generations of music. It most certainly makes for some interesting (and highly danceable) listening." -Lexy Brodt, JONKMUSIC.COM, November 18, 2014
"VYD guys are back in town with "Hot Water," another historical throw of a dice." - TOP40-CHARTS.COM, May 1, 2015
"Singer Justin Howard's voice is intoxicating like a classic rocker, and together with guitarist/beatmaker Nick Wisse, V Y D is one of those bubbling under acts who should be on your playlists any time of the year." - JUMPINTOLIMBO.CO.VU, October 28, 2014
"Fusing elements of funky house, 90′s alternative, and soul with a solid electronic grounding, VYD channels a sound intersecting something like
Chromeo and
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. Gently moulding genres at their boundary core while still creating listenable, soulful melodies means this single ["Rockets"] is going to go down seriously well with the music community." - BLUSHINGPANDA.ORG,March 12, 2015
