LOS ANGELES (AP) - U2's performance live from London on Friday's (September 21) telethon, America: A Tribute To Heroes, included a couple of special guests, although in one case it was not who some viewers thought it to be. Early reaction to the group's medley of their songs "Peace On Earth" and "Walk On" in Internet forums and discussion groups suggested that the second guitarist flanking U2's the Edge was Eric Clapton.
However, it turned out to be the Eurythmics' Dave Stewart.

As well, alt-pop artist Natalie Imbruglia, best known for her 1997 hit, "Torn," was among the backup singers.

America: A Tribute To Heroes was seen by nearly 90 million television viewers in the United States, according to early estimates. The telethon is expected to raise between $100-200 million for relief from the September 11 terrorist attacks.
