LOS ANGELES (www.americanhi-fi.com) - Maverick Records is proud to announce their newest signing, the pop-tinged alternative rock band AMERICAN HI-FI, signed to the label by label CEO, Guy Oseary and VP A&R, Kevin Williamson. The band came to the attention of Oseary & Williamson when frontman, Stacy Jones, and guitarist, Jamie Arentzen, started producing another new Maverick artist, Candice. Jones and Arentzen have been doing production for various bands under the moniker, Hi Fi Killers.

The group's Maverick debut, "Hearts on Parade," was produced by Butch Walker with American Hi-Fi and is set for release on March 1, 2005. The themes on this new album reflect the transitions shaped largely by Jones' relocation to Los Angeles last year after finding himself without a record deal.
"We were just about to hit the road with Matchbox Twenty to promote our sophomore album, when our record company decided the future of music was with Emo bands," reflects Jones. "We thought we had it made - a record we were proud of, a great tour, then the rug gets pulled out from under us."

While settling into his new surroundings and adjusting to life without any definite future plans, Jones used his songwriting as a creative outlet.
"After Island let us go, we took matters into our hands, built a studio and made the record on our own terms," said Jones. "We were confident that we would find a home for this record."

Jones (former drummer for Veruca Salt, Letters to Cleo) has put in plenty of time both as a live musician and a studio hired gun. Growing up amidst the Boston music scene, he lent his musical talents to everyone from Aimee Mann to Julianna Hatfield and Nina Gordon.
In 2001 after forming American Hi-Fi, the group's first single, "Flavor of the Weak," quickly climbed the charts and put the band on the map. In 2003, the band released their sophomore follow-up, "The Art of Losing" and again found success with the album's title track.

This past year the band made their way through the U.S. touring extensively including a co-headlining stint with friend, Butch Walker. The collaboration continues this Fall where the band has joined Walker as the opener on the Avril Lavigne tour which started October 25. American Hi-Fi are acting as Walker's 'back-up' band for the Lavigne tour before hitting the road again in a co-headlining slot with Walker this coming December.
