New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Acclaimed folk singer Jonathan Edwards has released Tomorrow's Child, the latest album in a career that spans over four decades of musical inspiration. Produced by celebrated acoustic master Darrell Scott, Edwards' performances on the album are backed by noted names including Alison Krauss, Vince Gill, Shawn Colvin, Darrell Scott, Jerry Douglas, John Cowan and Kenny Malone among others. Tomorrow's Child first premiered on Guitar World's Acoustic Nation, who heralds the album's "magnificently crafted lyrics and melodies" and remarks that "lovely harmonies, and smartly placed instrumentation do their best to complement the tidbits of wisdom generously delivered throughout."
Edwards first premiered the album's title track, which features vocal contributions from Alison Krauss, on Allmusic. Also recently released was Edwards' version of the classic American traditional "Mole In The Ground," now streaming on The Bluegrass Situation.
Edwards has also announced the "In The Round" tour with Marshall Crenshaw and Garland Jeffreys from
September 9th-18th, an exciting series of shows uniting the three renowned songwriters. The tour tops off Edwards' extensive 2015 touring schedule. See below for a full list of dates.
Ultimately it is Edwards' own heart-on-the-sleeve delivery that makes Tomorrow's Child so compelling. Edwards reveals on the haunting "Jonny's Come Home" that not only was he adopted as an infant, but before his music career took off, he was forced to put his own child up for adoption as well. "I was adopted at the age of 9 months, and the cover photo of this album was taken by my adoptive mother on that very day," Edwards said. "'Jonny's Come Home' was born out of my efforts to deal with the myriad of emotions that come with these separations and the instant comfort I felt after reuniting with both my mother and my daughter, Brenda."
