New York, NY (Top40 Charts / Company) Chilean singer-songwriter Gepe has revealed details about his upcoming fifth studio album "Estilo Libre" on Quemasucabeza. He has announced the official track list and the date of his global digital release, August 10. Gepe, who has released four solo albums in addition to one album as a member of the band Taller Dejao, has also confirmed his performance in NYC on
Thursday July 9th as part of the LAMC (Latin Alternative
Music Conference).
The new album has twelve tracks and features collaborations with the Peruvian singers Wendy Sulca and La Lá, and Chilean musician
Javiera Mena. Two tracks from the album have already captured audience's attention, including the first single "Hambre" and the album's opener "Marinero Capitán."
His video for "Hambre" was directed by British filmmaker Ian Pons Jewell. It was filmed in Bolivia and has more than 450,000 visits collectively since its premiere. The single and accompanied video clip is already a hit in various countries, including Mexico, Peru, Argentina, Colombia and Chile.
Gepe, also known as designer
Daniel Riveros, became one of the most important voices of the generation by mixing two distinct genres. He has been frequently described as the "new 'guru' of Chilean folk" for combining the sensibilities of 1960s and 1970s Chilean folk (especially the music of Víctor Jara) with a minimalist electropop sound. His particular style caught almost immediate the attention of the music press. Throughout his career, he has performed in huge festivals and events including the Latin American
Music Conference, SXSW, Lollapalooza Chile, Vive
Latino in Mexico, and the televised Viña del Mar Festival.
