Award-Winning Singer/Songwriter And Pianist Jennifer Greer Releases "Hey Tide," Her Fourth Album, July 11th At The Lilypad In Cambridge, MA
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Award-winning singer/songwriter and pianist Jennifer Greer releases "Hey Tide," her fourth album. With a sound reminiscent of Tori Amos and Fiona Apple, Greer channels her lyrical eloquence and expressive piano playing into "Hey Tide," sharing her journey of healing after losing her partner. The album is also a departure from her previous 3, with a powerful backing band and a more rock sound.

"Hey Tide is the result of a breakup with a boyfriend of almost 5 years," says Greer. "The grief was so bad I became clinically depressed and literally cried every day for 7-8 months. Hey Tide is the body of work I wrote during the 2 years after our separation and charts the path of heartbreak to healing: grief, anger, recovery and the emergence of hope; with the moon and tide as a guide."

The album reflects Greer's own recovery from heartbreak, but the volume is more about the transformational power of music and reflects the human condition. "Ultimately, every song … is a process of searching for my humanity," says Greer. "By doing so, I seek to illuminate the humanity of others. I feel that is my job — to be a mirror for other people to think and reflect and feel joy and have understanding over what is in their own lives and imagination."

Greer won the 2001 WRSI singer/songwriter competition with her first album, "Jewel Machine." Her second album, The Apiary, won Best Adult Alternative CD 2005 from The Muse's Muse and landed her recognition for Best Unsigned Pop Artist 2008 from Verbicide Magazine. Greer was also a finalist in the Newsong Mountain Stage competition in 2010 and 2012.

"Hey Tide" was recorded in Boston with producer Tom Dube (Bonnie Raitt, Rosanne Cash), pianist/singer/songwriter Jennifer Greer, bassist Jon Evans (Tori Amos, Sarah McLachlan), and drummer Dave Mattacks (Paul McCartney, Elton John).
