New York, NY (Top40 Charts) The Vans Warped Tour presented by Journeys has been such a wonderful partner, they've enabled us to grow and feed so many children across the US.
Feed Our Children NOW!, a 501c3 Charity, part of Creative Money Works, Inc. has been a non-profit partner of the Vans Warped Tour presented by Journeys since 2007. Recognizing summer as a critical time for children facing hunger given absence of school meal programs, Feed Our Children NOW! began their relationship with Vans Warped Tour with a single food drive in Camden, NJ. By 2013, FOCNOW! had become a full-time partner, staging food drives at every venue on the Tour. Last summer, 413,000 pounds of food was collected and donated to 42 charities in 42 US cities. Wanting to do something special to thank Vans Warped Tour presented by Journeys, Feed Our Children NOW! Founder Lana Posner approached Vans Warped Tour presented by Journeys creator
Kevin Lyman with the idea to attempt to set a world record for the largest food drive.
According to Ms. Posner, "The Vans Warped Tour presented by Journeys has been such a wonderful partner, they've enabled us to grow and feed so many children across the US. The spirit of giving back to the community and to the fans that support the Tour is deeply ingrained in their DNA. We're very grateful to
Kevin and his whole team for their support over the past 9 years."
Feed Our Children NOW! is receiving support from many of the musicians, sponsors and partners on the 2015 Vans Warped Tour presented by Journeys. Since confirming the official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS attempt, Jake Ducey, many of the bands and sponsors of Warped Tour presented by Journeys have come forward and are prepared to help. Camden City Officials, Webimax, US Army, Boys and Girls Club, and others are stepping forward to help feed our children.
The July 10, 2015 event will take place at the Vans Warped Tour presented by Journeys show at Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, NJ from 9am to 5pm. Ms. Posner added "We have charity partners in every city on the Tour. We selected Camden, our hometown to attempt the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title knowing that so many children in Camden struggle with hunger. Our goal is to help organize as many local food drives as possible leading up to July 10, with all donations being delivered to the venue the day of the event. All food will be distributed through multiple charities in Camden. We're accepting most canned food, just ask no glass, expired, dented or rusted containers please." There is also a virtual drive for money donations https://feedourchildrennow.org/community.html and 100% of everything collected will be used to buy food for the drive (except processing charges).
The current GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS record of 250,000 pounds of food would fill 7 eighteen-wheel trucks.
