NEW YORK (Broken Hill Music/ www.morexoptimo.com) - Rumors have been circulating for months, and the band has been teasing fans for weeks, but Brooklyn-based indie rock band Morex Optimo will finally unloose their long-gestating debut full-length album "Beast of Reflection" on December 14, 2004. In celebration of this event, an album release party at Galapagos Art Space in Williamsburg will feature the band and performances by renowned radio artist Gregory Whitehead, manic Powerpoint performance artist Rev. Luke Murphy, NY Pushcart synchronized laundry cart drill team, DJ Privateman, and surprise musical guests. Recorded by Martin Bisi (John Zorn, Sonic Youth, Dresden Dolls, Herbie Hancock) and mastered by Fred Kevorkian (The White Stripes, Iggy Pop, Lou Reed), "Beast of Reflection" is a distinctive 12-song surge of angular guitar, intricate vocal harmonies, odd time signatures and inscrutable but exquisite lyrics. Jagged but graceful, this "oddball indie rock for beautiful, double-jointed beautiful souls" has been called alternately a "wild and brainy rush [providing a refreshing change of pace from the quotidian" (Francis Dimenno, The Noise) and "alternative rock at its best, with a lot of twists and turns and personality" (Abarrs, garageband.com). The event is free and open to the public. Galapagos Art Space is located at 70 North Sixth Street between Wythe and Kent Avenues in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
