NEW YORK (Artemis Records) - Oscar-winning director Jonathan Demme will direct the video for Steve Earle's "Rich Man's War", the second single from his critically acclaimed new album THE REVOLUTION STARTS...NOW. The video centers around live concert footage shot at Earle's charged show on Election night at CBGB's in New York City. A long-time music devotee, Demme was excited about working with rocker Steve Earle. Demme commented, "Steve Earle is the youngest master American singer/songwriter working today and it is a simultaneous blast and honor to be collaborating with him on a visualization of his incredibly moving and deeply patriotic new song, 'Rich Man's War'". Jonathan Demme has directed many highly-acclaimed films, including The Manchurian Candidate, Philadelphia and The Silence Of The Lambs. In 1992, Demme won an Oscar for directing The Silence Of The Lambs. Demme's credits also include several music-based documentaries, including Stop Making Sense about The Talking Heads. Steve Earle's highly political new album, THE REVOLUTION STARTS...NOW has received rave reviews from the press, as well as the artistic community. Rolling Stone gave the album 4 stars and called it "easily the most potent roar about Iraq so far". Michael Moore said of Earle, "This is an artist you must listen to...Steve pulls no punches and gives me much hope... If I were a rock star, I would be Steve Earle." Blender also gave the album four stars. The New York Daily News stated "Earle remains one of the best vocalists we've got. His gruff singing expresses weariness, sarcasm, disgust and ultimately, a vulnerable hope." The title track and first single from the album is currently enjoying great success at radio stations nationwide. "The Revolution Starts Now" is currently No 8 on the Triple A RandR indicator chart and No 17 on the Triple A RandR monitored chart. Stations currently playing the track include KFOG/San Francisco, KBCO/Denver, KMTT/Seattle and WXRT/Chicago.
