New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Atlantic Records has announced the release of "HAMILTON (ORIGINAL BROADWAY CAST RECORDING)," the musical companion to the critically acclaimed Broadway show, "HAMILTON." "HAMILTON (ORIGINAL BROADWAY CAST RECORDING)" is available for pre-order at all DSPs on August 7th, one day after the show's official Broadway opening night at the Richard Rodgers Theatre (226 W. 46 St.). The album will be released at all retailers this Fall, with an official date to be announced in the coming weeks.
"HAMILTON (ORIGINAL BROADWAY CAST RECORDING)" is executive produced by Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson and Tariq "Black Thought" Trotter, founding members of the Grammy Award winning hip-hop band, The Roots. "Ten minutes into 'HAMILTON,' though, I was just so stunned. It was such a sucker punch," raves Thompson, reflecting on seeing the show for the first time, while Trotter highlights that the show, "can be your introduction to hip-hop -- on Broadway. And it's a valid one. It's a credible one."
"HAMILTON" has book, music and lyrics by Tony and Grammy Award-winning composer Lin Manuel Miranda, who also plays the title role. The musical is directed by
Thomas Kail, with choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler and music direction and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire. "HAMILTON" is inspired by Ron Chernow's biography "Alexander Hamilton."
