FRAMINGHAM, MA. (Staples Inc./ www.staples.com) - The humble stapler is going "glam" this holiday season bearing autographs from more than 120 celebrities, ranging from Bill Gates to Jennifer Love Hewitt and Tiger Woods to Paris Hilton, as part of the "Staplers of the Stars" online charity auction created by Staples.

Hewitt, a self-proclaimed office supply fanatic and star of this season's "A Christmas Carol" and "Garfield," kicked off the event on Wednesday, November 17, at an exclusive museum-style display of celebrity-autographed staplers at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles.

Celebrities from film, music, sports and business have donated autographedstaplers for this charitable effort. One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to charities designated by the celebrities including City of Hope, Global Green, the Harlem Boys Choir, and Staples Foundation for Learning.

Contributors to date include Meryl Streep, Benicio Del Toro, football great Tom Brady, network news anchor Katie Couric, musicians Ringo Starr and Alice Cooper.
"We've made it easy to get a truly unique holiday gift for someone while supporting a charitable cause," said Shira Goodman, executive vice president of marketing for Staples. "We're grateful to all the stars who donated their signatures to make this fun and successful."

To view or bid on the staplers, visit the Staplers of the Stars auction at https://www.staples.com now through December 6, 2004. The staplers will come displayed in a trophy-style case ready for holiday giving. The auction is Powered By cMarket of Cambridge, Mass.
"I'm thrilled to be part of a charity auction with the potential to help so many people," Hewitt said. "My stapler will be in good company with the likes of Samuel L. Jackson, Ellen DeGeneres, and even Rudy Giuliani."
