Awake: The Life Of Yogananda New Companion Book, Soundtrack, And DVD
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) "Compelling... enough to make a modern soul look inwards." - The New York Times
The much anticipated companion book and soundtrack album to the award-winning documentary AWAKE: The Life of Yogananda have just been released by Self-Realization Fellowship. The DVD of the film will be available for purchase beginning September 30, and digital rentals will be available starting October 15.

The highly acclaimed film, written and directed by Paola Di Florio and Lisa Leeman, and produced by CounterPoint Films, explores the life of world spiritual teacher Paramahansa Yogananda, author of the best-selling Autobiography of a Yogi and widely regarded as the father of Yoga in the West.

Grossing over $1.5 million at the box office and still playing in theaters in both the U.S. and Canada almost a year since its initial theatrical release in October 2014, AWAKE has also been a hit at festivals, garnering awards and accolades at the Maui Film Festival, Seattle International Film festival, Tel Aviv Spirit Film Festival, Dharamsala Film Festival, and Herat International Women's Film Festival in Afghanistan, among others.

An intimate account of Paramahansa Yogananda's personal journey in the West during a time of upheaval and change, AWAKE: The Life of Yogananda explores the stories of Yogananda's childhood and spiritual training in India; his historic arrival in the U.S.; the challenges he encountered with racism and yellow journalism while teaching Western audiences; the betrayals he confronted; his breakthrough teachings on the link between science and spirituality, and the universality of religion; and the recognition he ultimately received for his pioneering role as the father of Yoga in the West.

The film features interviews with celebrated musicians Ravi Shankar and George Harrison, holistic health pioneer Deepak Chopra, neuroscientist Andrew Newberg, Harvard Divinity School's Francis Clooney, S.J., and USC's Dean of Religious Life Varun Soni, and many others who have found inspiration in Yogananda's writings and teachings.

Film-related products now available for purchase at retailers throughout the U.S. and Canada, online, or directly from the publisher at https://www.srfbooks.org, include:
