New York, NY (Top40 Charts) The charismatic country recording duo Dave & Whitney (Chelsea Creek Entertainment) will officially introduce its debut single entitled "
Alibi"* to radio stations across the country on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 [CDX Vol. 623/10-5-15 / PlayMPE 10-5-15].
The delightfully dark and stormy single showcases sassy female vocals and male harmonies that are naturally complementary. The cheeky hit-making lyrics and intriguing storyline parallel "
Goodbye Earl" (Dixie Chicks), "Two
Black Cadillacs" (Carrie Underwood) and "Gunpowder And Lead" (Miranda Lambert). The up-tempo tune is a testament to Dave & Whitney's versatile artistic talents to paint a mystical picture and further proves this team can pull the trigger on any composition, ruckus or hushed.
Written by Rodney Clawson,
Sarah Buxton and Jamie Moore, and produced by Dan Frizsell, "
Alibi" is the title track from the duo's 4-song EP (featuring 2 bonus tracks) recorded at the historic
Legends Studio in Nashville, TN and released this past July.
"The 'little help from my friends' tune offers up the perfect 'Alibi' in a missing person mystery," states Dave and Whitney in mutual sentiment. "A modern-day CSI musical, the track highlights eerie sounds reminiscent of the pedal steel featured in the TV series 'Trueblood.' (Russ Pahl, was keen to infuse the sinister vibe.)"
SAW IT COMIN FROM A MILE AWAY
AND YOUR JACKIE SHADES COULDN'T HIDE THE PAIN
IF ANYBODY ASKS WHERE YOU WERE LAST NIGHT
HERE'S YOUR ALIBI
Chorus
WE WERE SITTING THERE SWINGING ON THE BACK PORCH
DRINKIN RED WINE UNDERNEATH THAT BLACKED OUT SKY
HAD OUR OWN LITTLE GIRLS NIGHT WATCHIN REAL HOUSEWIVES
AND THE TIME FLEW BY
AND WE'LL SAY YOU HAD A FLAT TIRE AND YOU WERE TOO TIRED
SO YOU JUST SPENT THE NIGHT
THE LAST TIME YOU SAW HIM HE WAS DOIN JUST FINE
Russ Pahl was instrumental in lending his talents to the unnerving, ghostly pedal steel that appears throughout the track. (He is also the master behind the signatured pedal steel in the "Trueblood" TV series theme song.)
Dave & Whitney are holding their own, on their own. ALIBI is the first national recording project released as a duo (July 2015). The EP boasts the talents of stellar musicians including Jimmy Sloas (bass), Steve Brewster (drums), Jim "Moose" Brown (piano and B3), Derek Wells (electric guitar), Biff Watson (acoustic guitar), John Willis (acoustic guitar, electric guitar, baritone guitar, mandolin, and banjo), Dan Frizsell (bass) and Dave played electric guitar on the project.
The pair plays more than 100 dates a year. Dave & Whitney have shared stages with country music's most sought-after entertainers including Randy Houser, Florida Georgia Line, Eli Young Band,
David Nail, Parmalee, Sara Evans, Jana Kramer, Casey James,
Dustin Lynch, Love and Theft and Frankie Ballard.
As part of their show tour schedule this summer, the two incorporated impromptu stops at radio stations to make introductions as part of their itinerary. Without the assistance or aid of a record label, or management, Dave & Whitney independently entered the
Music Row chart at 179.
Grassroots Promotion has joined the Dave & Whitney team to spearhead the radio promotion campaign; Dave & Whitney will incorporate radio visits in their upcoming show schedule this fall.
ALIBI, and the new single by the same name, are currently available via all major digital outlets.
