New York, NY (Top40 Charts) "...heavy, crunching, downtuned hard rock with '90s post-hardcore undertones and a strong melodic sensibility. Basically, it sounds like J. Robbins singing for Quicksand—in other words, it's totally f*ing awesome."- Substream Magazine
"...exploding with gut-busting rock and roll energy..."- The Key/WXPN
Philadelphia 4-piece alternative rock outfit Kiska --formerly known as Desoto Jones (Deep Elm), is premiering a new song titled "Tear The Dark Down" off their upcoming debut self-titled LP on Absolutepunk, which says, "If you yearn for the post-hardcore sound from the 90s then you're gonna love (it)."
The album, produced by Vince Ratti (Circa Survive, The Wonder Years, Superheaven, Balance & Composure), will be released tomorrow, October 30, on Spartan Records and is available for pre-order on limited edition vinyl and on iTunes.
Named after the small, obscure and unpopulated island off the coast of Alaska, Kiska consists of Philly natives Owen and Adam Staszewski (vocals /guitar, respectively), Ean Kyler (bass), and Adam Francois (drums).
"It evoked an image in our heads of an isolated place separated by water from an already cold and isolated place [Alaska]," says Adam. "The mood and sound of the album is also a reflection of the name [Kiska] — heavy, majestic, desolate, and ominous," adds his brother Owen.
