Barnes & Noble Celebrates The Gift Of Music With Vinyl Day On November 21, 2015
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) With the renewed interest and popularity of vinyl records and the desire to spotlight its in-store musical offerings, Barnes & Noble, Inc. (NYSE:BKS), the nation's largest retail bookseller and a leading retailer of content, digital media and educational products, today announced that it will present a special "Vinyl Day" on Saturday, November 21 (www.BN.com/VinylDay).

An entire day dedicated to vinyl records and music, Vinyl Day will take place at Barnes & Noble's nearly 650 stores nationwide just four months after its first vinyl-themed promotion in July as part of the summer program "Get Pop-Cultured with Barnes & Noble." Now, with Thanksgiving around the corner, the bookseller aims to break consumers out of their usual holiday shopping habits and encourage the "Art of Creative Gift-Giving."

"Barnes & Noble has always been committed to providing the very best in music to our customers and we're excited to roll out Vinyl Day nationally as a celebration of a very special music format," said Chuck Gorman, Vice President of Music and DVD at Barnes & Noble. "One of the interesting things about Vinyl is that it never really went away. What we're seeing now is that customers are gravitating back to it because it offers a more authentic and warmer sound, as well as fantastic artwork and a unique collectability factor. Vinyl really is a great way to experience and share music."

Vinyl Day gives music lovers of all ages the opportunity to explore Barnes & Noble's growing assortment and participate in events celebrating vinyl culture. Barnes & Noble serves as the exclusive retailer for select vinyl albums that will be available on Vinyl Day, including those from artists such as The Beatles (Singles Set), Tony Bennett (The Silver Lining: The Songs of Jerome Kern), Andrea Bocelli (Cinema)*, Harry Connick Jr. (That Would Be Me), Yo-Yo Ma (Songs of Joy and Peace) and Pentatonix (That's Christmas To Me)*, as well as anthologies including a collection of music from the popular television show Mad Men (Music of Mad Men).

Other exclusives, like special-color vinyl editions, include musical works by Dave Brubeck (Essentials), Neko Case (Blacklisted), Johnny Cash (Essentials), Paul McCartney (Pipes of Peace, Tug Of War) and Elvis Presley (Essentials). Also, like the recently announced Signed Editions program partnering with best-selling authors to personalize thousands of autographed books exclusively for its customers, Barnes & Noble will similarly offer a limited number of Signed Edition albums by such musical artists as Bad Company (Paul Rogers), James Bay, Brandi Carlile, Silversun Pickups, Sleater-Kinney, Lindsey Stirling and Brian Wilson.

In addition, Barnes & Noble's Vinyl Day is perfectly aligned with one of the most anticipated new album releases in years, Adele's 25, which launches on November 20. All Barnes & Noble stores nationwide will have copies of 25 available on vinyl in time for Vinyl Day. Stores will also have copies of 25 on CD, as well as Adele's blockbuster first and second albums, 19 and 21, in both formats.

Exclusive offers for Barnes & Noble customers will also be available on Vinyl Day, with details to be announced in the coming days. Vinyl Day will also feature giveaways of a specially published list of "Definitive Album Reviews" by Uncut magazine, while supplies last, and customers will receive a NOOK digital edition of Rolling Stone's "The 500 Greatest Albums of All-Time" with any vinyl purchase on November 21, downloadable through a special receipt access code.

In-store events, which will vary from market to market, may include vinyl experts and musical performers, vinyl collector showcases, album art displays, contests and special children's activities. Customers can visit their local Barnes & Noble store to speak to a bookseller for more details, or visit www.BN.com/VinylDay.
