Introducing Badlands
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Badlands is dusky and interstellar yet you can sense the influences from early new wave and Hacienda hay-day, evolved into something emotionally atmospheric and semi-electronic.

Behind this one-woman-band hides songwriter, producer and sound designer Catharina Jaunviksna. Born and based in Sweden, she still has two other home countries in Ireland and Italy, and maybe that has added to her distinctive and genuine sound. With an inspiring context in the ever so pulsating semi-electronic Irish scene and the unheedful DIY Italian base, all tastefully rounded up with uncompromising and aesthetic Swedishness.

Sprung out of creative resourcefulness and childlike escapism, her tunes can be described as spaceage fables and sudden encounters, told through analog synths, club beats and organic pop orchestration. Indisputably emotional, yet relentless and proud.

With its strong sense of melody and distinct production, new album testifies of a Badlands that has become more true to her emotional ideas and instincts. From the first release with EP Battles Within 2012 and single "Tutu" 2013, the former experimental and at times trip-hop scented project has now left the sound searching quest and grown up to be a genre of it's own.

Praise for Badlands
