New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Rock and roll legends, Bon Jovi, have lent their official online support to an upcoming urban pop duo's cover of their classic 80's anthem, "Livin' On A Prayer". Bon Jovi has posted a link for this new lyric video on their Facebook, Twitter, and official website, thanking the new artist for their "creative and cool" rendition.
North Star Media recording artist Epoch Failure (pronounced "epic failure") recently premiered their urban pop interpretation of "Livin' On A Prayer" on YouTube. By closely mirroring the melody and phrasing of the original pre-chorus and hook, the group has stayed true to the underlying spirit and message of the song. However, for this new version, rather than retell the classic story of Tommy and Gina, rapper Nick Young (aka "Nickey Knoxx") delivers original verse lyrics from a first person perspective. Young explains the approach, "Growing up in Trenton and Camden, we've been living the fight and the struggle on a firsthand basis for our entire lives, so it was easy to identify with the themes of hope and faith, and it felt more genuine to put a personal spin on it."
Epoch Failure is an urban pop duo resulting from the collaborative efforts of singer/producer Billy Joe Marrero and rapper Nick Young. Their 5-song debut EP was released in early 2015. It was mixed and co-produced by Grammy-nominated producer Billy Hume (Lil' Jon, Ying Yang, Pitbull). The duo's current single " Champion" has been one of this year's breakout sync tracks in the sports world. NFL Network, ESPN, Fox Sports, NASCAR, NY Knicks, NY Giants, Denver Broncos, and the Australian Football League have all supported the song with high-profile uses.
