New Album Dystopia Storms On To The Top 200 Chart At No 3
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Universal Music Enterprises) 30 years into a groundbreaking career, hard rock and metal forerunners Megadeth return to take the no. 3 spot on the Billboard Top 200 chart alongside Adele and Justin Bieber. The release of Dystopia marks the highest chart impact for Megadeth since Countdown To Extinction, which debuted at no. 2. Dystopia is the band's 6th studio album in the top 10, and 11th studio album in the top 20. Also, Dystopia is the no. 1 album on the Hard Music and Top Rock charts, and no. 2 on the Top Album Sales chart.

Says Dave Mustaine: "Getting the number one spot for hard rock and metal while a very talented lady (Adele) gets the number one spot for pop - I am ecstatic with the results of Dystopia. Now, it's time to take it to the streets!"

Always a global band, Megadeth's domination was felt overseas as well, with top 10 debuts in Japan (no. 2 international chart), Finland (no. 3), Canada (no. 3), Mexico (no. 4), and Australia (no. 6), as well as Belgium, Ireland, and Australia achieving the band's highest chart positions ever. Other countries with significant sales or chart debuts include UK, Norway, Sweden, Italy, Netherlands, and France.

Rock critics and fans around the world are hailing Dystopia as a triumphant return from one of the most important bands in the genre:

Outburn Magazine proclaims, "…returning to more complex song structures of the band's 'Rust In Peace' era…it's everything one would want from a Megadeth album." "The Megadeth of old is back," Decibel says, and Loudwire professes, "Dystopia is a first-rate Megadeth album."

Featuring 11 tracks, Dystopia (Universal Music Enterprises /Tradecraft / T-Boy Records) was released January 22 on CD, LP, and digitally. A special edition is also available featuring a groundbreaking Virtual Reality experience, which includes the new album, a CEEK Virtual Reality headset and a download code to unlock exclusive content.

With musical architect and band visionary Dave Mustaine at the helm, Dystopia was recorded in Nashville, TN, and mixed by Josh Wilbur (Lamb of God, Gojira, Avenged Sevenfold). The Megadeth lineup is comprised of new member Kiko Loureiro (formerly of Angra), David Ellefson on bass, and drummer Chris Adler, who took time away from Lamb of God to record with Megadeth.

Recently, Megadeth announced the details for the North American leg of their Dystopia World Tour, which kicks off in Dallas, TX on February 20, 2016. The North American leg takes them across the U.S, visiting 12 states and throughout Canada. For more information, go to www.megadeth.com.

Megadeth burst onto the scene thirty years ago, virtually inventing a genre with their debut album Killing Is My Business… And Business Is Good! (recently recognized by VH1 as the Greatest Thrash Metal Debut Album of All Time). Megadeth has sold more than 38 million albums worldwide, earning numerous accolades including 11 Grammy nominations and scoring five consecutive platinum albums.
