DENTON, TX. (Top40 Charts) Oaktopia, North Texas' premiere independent music entertainment event, today announced that Mercury Rev, alternative-rock legends under the Bella Union record label, will be kicking off Oaktopia's 2016 festival season with a PreTopia performance at Dan's Silverleaf on March 20, 2016.
"We are thrilled to kick off Oaktopia's 2016 festival season with Mercury Rev," said Matt Battaglia, co-founder of Oaktopia. "With limited seats available, some very lucky fans will enjoy seeing this internationally renowned artist provide an amazing experience in a North
Texas institution."
After more than seven years since their last album,
Mercury Rev released The Light In You in October 2015 with what The Guardian calls a "mesmeric, majestic rock return." Filled with wondrous and voluminous kaleidoscopic detail, The Light In You captures intimate moments of calm as well as ecstatic highs and shivery comedowns. Altogether, this new music stands up to the very best that this notable band of maverick explorers has ever created.
Oaktopia's goal is to bring the very best music to its stages and deliver an unforgettable experience, complete with such stellar artists as Mercury Rev. This is the first step in 2016 to bringing a killer experience to Texas.
