New York, NY (Top40 Charts) The Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Series today announced Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM), a leading health and well-being company, will return as a series-wide partner and title sponsor of four running events - in New Orleans (Feb. 28, 2016), Dallas (March 19-20, 2016),
Chicago (July 15-17, 2016), and San Antonio (Dec. 3-4, 2016) - as well as several 5K races throughout the year designed to help first-time participants join the fun and get started with something healthy.
Humana was a title sponsor for four Rock 'n' Roll races in 2015, and the company will continue its sponsorship to help people achieve their best health. This year, Humana will provide incentives for first-time runners to sign up and participate in a race, including the free 5K race series.
"Great things are ahead of you when you have your health so we want to encourage people of all ages to get out there and rock their health," said Humana Vice President of Marketing Jennifer Bazante. "The Humana Rock 'n' Roll races are a great example of making healthy things fun and fun things healthy. When you mix a highly supportive running environment with fantastic rock and roll, it's hard not to have fun."
"To round out Humana's partnership with the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Series, Competitor Group, which owns and operates the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Series, will coordinate 5K races with Humana," said
Molly Quinn, senior vice president of Competitor Group. These races, which will be free and open to the public, are designed to appeal to a wide range of fitness levels, from first-time participants to accomplished athletes.
Humana is also partnering with Derek Mitchell, who made a name for himself in 2015 when, as a 625-pound man, he made a life-altering commitment to change his life for the better.
Mitchell set a goal of participating in a 5K race every month in 2015, and ultimately participated in 21 races and lost nearly 100 pounds. This year, Humana will support Mitchell in his 2016 goal of participating in 30 5K races and losing an additional 96 pounds.
