New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Lakeshore Records will release the EYE IN THE SKY - Original Motion Picture
Soundtrack digitally on March 11 and on CD April 8, 2016. The album features original music composed by composers Paul Hepker (KITE, SHEPHERDS AND BUTCHERS, RENDITION, Tsotsi) and Mark Kilian (THE WARD, RENDITION, Tsotsi).
EYE IN THE SKY is a taut, darkly comic, action thriller set against the backdrop of the highly topical (and controversial) modern warfare; the movie takes place in London, Nairobi, Las Vegas, Honolulu and 20,000 feet above the earth, said Hepker. The score for Eye In the Sky blends electronic, orchestral and world music elements as the story onscreen unfolds.
Produced by Raindog Films (co-founded by Colin Firth and former Sony
Music UK Chairman Ged Doherty) and Entertainment One Features, EYE IN THE SKY stars Helen Mirren as Colonel Katherine Powell, a UK-based military officer in command of a top-secret drone operation to capture terrorists in Kenya. Through remote surveillance and on-the-ground intel, Powell discovers the targets are planning a suicide bombing and the mission escalates from capture to kill. But as American pilot Steve Watts (Aaron Paul) is about to engage, a nine-year old girl enters the kill zone, triggering an international dispute reaching the highest levels of US and British government over the moral, political, and personal implications of modern warfare. The film also stars Alan Rickman, Iain Glen and Barkad Abhi.
Stuttering mechanical soundscapes and big rolling pads give voice to the omnipresent drones and the relentless war machine as it gathers pace, said Kilian. The score is at times sparse and atmospheric, but as the psychological drama heightens, aleatoric orchestral shimmers and electronic distortions weave together to turn up the heat.
