New York, NY (Top40 Charts) This Spring, New Orleans-based artist Luxley (a.k.a. Ryan Gray) will release his anticipated debut
Spirit EP. Late last year, The Line of Best Fit debuted "Camera Lens," which features "the pulse of Hot Fuss-era Killers" and a mix of "80s synth inspired melodies and earnest lyrics and vocals." That track found itself on Spotify's New
Music Friday and Weekend Buzz playlists as well as the Top 50 US Viral chart. Today, Earmilk premiered his new song "Dance Baby," which they called "both infectiously catchy as it is effortlessly danceable."

"'Dance Baby' is about love, sex, and the things that aren't good or quite right for us but that we just can't let go of," said Gray of the track. "It's about an emotionally exhausting and un-ending relationship between two people who can't seem to let go of each other. It's about wanting to get out but at the same time not wanting to, or giving in to that self-destructive urge for one reason or another - depending on how you view it."
Luxley dropped his first single "
Spirit" last year which BULLETT described as an "effervescent cascade of danceable momentum."
A former MD/PHD student, Luxley was started when Gray decided to follow his heart. He had been producing music as a creative outlet while studying at Tulane University in his hometown of New Orleans. As his passion for music grew, Gray decided to take a break from his medical program to write and record his first EP,
Spirit with co-producer Ayad Al-Adhamy (ex
Passion Pit, Team Spirit) and engineer/mixer Justin Gerrish (Vampire Weekend, The Strokes).
Simon Katz (Youngblood Hawke) added additional production and mixing to the tracks.
Filled with "big time spirited pop...with infectious tones that you never want to end" (Impose), the album also finds Nora Patterson of fellow Louisiana indie-pop favorites Royal Teeth lending her vocals to create upbeat, infinitely danceable, "rambunctious indie rock" (Indie Shuffle) harmonies.
Since wrapping the EP, Luxley has hit the road with Bombay Bicycle Club, Milo Greene, and
Mystery Skulls putting on a live show that CMJ describes as a "rousing set of joyous pop" and Wild
Honey Pie called "a dance-filled, high energy night."
