New York, NY (Top40 Charts / Live Music Tutor) Live
Music Tutor, an online platform where people can stream live music lessons between instructors and students around the world, and The School District of Osceola County, Florida, will launch a pilot program this month to provide supplemental resources and additional support to the string programs at Gateway High School, Parkway Middle School, Boggy Creek Elementary School, and Narcoossee Middle School.
The initial focus intends to provide 30-minute master classes to an estimated 125 students one time per month, as well as individual lessons twice per month for teachers to gain expertise or for students to use while at school supervised by the teacher.
Live
Music Tutor will donate all lessons throughout the pilot program. The school district currently has 21 string programs with only four specialized string teachers, making this a groundbreaking opportunity to supplement the string programs in select K-12 schools with Live
Music Tutor's technology and instructors. String instruments that will be taught during the Live
Music Tutor classes include the violin, viola, cello, and bass.
"We're very excited to partner with the school district of Osceola County to provide assistance to the schools' string programs," says Ted Gee, cofounder of Live
Music Tutor. "This pilot hopes to make a significant impact on the district's music programs by assisting students that are currently without access to music lessons for specific string instruments or skill level. Live
Music Tutor will provide real-time, interactive lessons to these students from experienced teachers all around the world through its technology."
The pilot will run until June 2016. Once the pilot ends, data and statistics gathered from the master lessons will be presented to the assistant superintendent of the district and each school board involved to determine the impact of this supplemental music education program.
"We are always looking for ways to bring more opportunities to help our students develop musically and artistically," says Debbie Fahmie, Fine and Performing Arts Resource Specialist for The School District of Osceola County. "Many of our students have challenges that stand in the way of being able to get to master classes, coaching sessions, and lessons here in Osceola County, and this pilot may help us level the playing field for them. The technology aspect of this project breaks down some of the challenges and insures access for students throughout our school district."
