Introducing Skinny Blonde
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Skinny Blonde - the musical alias of 22-year-old New York student and resident Michael Turzilli - takes upbeat pop and turns it on its self-aware head. Often satirical in nature, Turzillis music draws the line between taking ourselves too seriously and not taking ourselves seriously enough. His debut EP, City Girls, explores the creative process and dense community of artists in New York with a sharp and realistic tongue. He explores how quickly the artistic process can turn narcissistic, not leaving anyone free from critique - even himself.

Turzilli is no stranger to the arts. Raised in Connecticut with parents who share his same creative spirit, he began playing in bands at the age of 13 and continued playing guitar until he moved away for university. Battling with a severe drug addiction, Turzilli dropped out of University during his sophomore year to focus on getting sober. The recording process became much more isolated afterwards, and Turzilli began to branch out to other instruments and worked without a backing band.

If I didnt make City Girls, the ideas would still be inside me taking up too much space, Turzilli says, using his music as a cathartic outlet to rediscover what makes him passionate.

Skinny Blonde is both the musical representation of Turzillis creative process and the false ideal he looks up to. He finds his inspiration while reading, painting, performing, dating and getting to know himself in New York, pulling from the creative pool around him in the form of Juilliard and Brooklyn. He draws influence from Elliott Smith, Swans, Talking Heads, and Kanye West, building a unique repertoire of musical artistry.

He found his place through getting sober, and while his music creates freedom for himself, it also serves as an artistic connection for whoever listens.
