Music Publishing has promoted
Jorge Mejia to the position of President, Latin
America and U.S. Latin, based in the company's Miami office.
In the role, Mejia is responsible for the entire operations of the world's leading music publishing company across the U.S. Latin market and the Latin American region, including overseeing offices in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Miami. He reports into Sony/ATV Co-President, U.S.,
Danny Strick.

Colombian-born
Jorge Mejia, who has lived in Miami since the age of 12, has risen to the ranks of President of Sony/ATV's Latin
America and U.S. Latin business nearly 20 years after starting as an intern. He joined the company having attended the New England Conservatory of
Music in
Boston and then the University of Miami where he received a degree in Piano Performance.
Under him Sony/ATV has firmly established itself as the No. 1 music publisher in the region with a local roster that includes Ricardo Arjona, Don Omar, Nicky Jam, Wisin, Yandel, Ricky
Martin and
Mario Domm, among many others. It was crowned last year as Billboard Latin Publishing Corporation of the Year as well as being named ASCAP Latin Publisher of the Year for an unprecedented 13th consecutive time. In March this year it was additionally recognized as BMI Latin Publisher of the Year.
Mejia himself was last year selected by Billboard as one of its Latin Power Players, the only music publisher to make the list, while he serves on the board of the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Alongside his role at Sony/ATV, he continues to pursue a career as a musician and recording artist and in June last year released Preludes, an album containing 25 preludes for solo piano composed, scored and performed by him. It was launched with a concert at the Art House recording studio in Miami in front of an audience including industry media, label executives, musicians, producers and the heads of all the Latin music publishing companies.
