Elizabeth Cook's Revival: 'Exodus Of Venus' - First LP In Six Years - Out June 17 (Agent Love Records/Thirty Tigers)
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Elizabeth Cook, the bold and brilliant Nashville singer-songwriter and country music outlaw, will release 'Exodus of Venus' June 17 (Agent Love Records/Thirty Tigers), her first album since 2010's lauded 'Welder.' The eleven new original songs represent a knife-sharp take on heartache and hardship that's cathartic and visceral, a transcendent reflection on hard times, survival, and rebirth. Elizabeth spent the month of March road-testing the new material at a weekly residency at Nashville's 5 Spot and has a tour that starts later this month. She will play NYC on June 15 at Joe's Pub with more June dates to be announced.

'The Exodus of Venus' first unfurls over the title track; atmospheric, swampy country blues and rock and lays the foundation for Cook's distinct meditation on death, God and the devil, alcohol and love, and more. She sings, "knives are made for stabbin'/arms are made for peace" on the chorus of 'Straight Jacket Blues' set to a reckless honky-tonk (she's joined by Patty Loveless). "Methadone Blues," the first song she penned for the album, has a contrastingly bright soul kick. The album was produced by Dexter Green and recorded at Sound Emporium and Hidden Valley Studio in Nashville.

Since the release of 'Welder,' which landed on several Top 10 albums of 2010 lists including Rolling Stone and Fresh Air, Cook has hosted a beloved radio show on SiriusXM's Outlaw Country channel, called Apron Strings, an outlet that affords the freedom play music she loves and speak her mind. She's also continued to make appearances on the Grand Ole Opry with over 400 performances.

Elizabeth Cook was introduced to the musical life at an early age - her mother and father performed in honky-tonks in Florida. She has collaborated with a who's who of singer-songwriters: John Prine, Jason Isbell, Steve Earle, Todd Snider, Rodney Crowell, Buddy Miller and Dwight Yoakam. She appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman five times, was a 4-time Americana Awards nominee in 2010 and voices a character on Adult Swim's Squidbillies.
