NEW YORK (Top40 Charts) - Soul legend James Brown announced to the world that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer in a statement released yesterday on Friday morning (Dec. 10), the "Godfather of Soul" announced that he is due for surgery on December 15.
"I have overcome a lot of things in my life. I will overcome this as well," Brown said in a statement.

The 71-year-old Godfather of Soul is scheduled to undergo surgery treat the disease on Wednesday (Dec. 15). Known for hits like I Got You (I Feel Good) and Cold Sweat, recently finished a Canadan tour and plans to release his autobiography next month. He's optimistic that he can beat the disease and recently picked up the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2004 Diesel Music Awards.
