New York, NY (Top40 Charts) M.A BEAT! like to qualify their music as organic. We can also say that this band formed organically. A trio today, the project was born in 2012 with the EP Arbor under the impulsion of Samy Abboud, who was passionate about beatmaking, textures and fan of the English bands like
Mount Kimbie and Four Tet.
Louis Treffel, bassist and producer, joined Samy and they released together the EP Pushing Forms. The sound is a mixture of electronic music jazz and acoustic instruments. The track Mirage was supported by Gilles Peterson and
Radio Nova.
Adrien Legay, jazz drummer, joined the band first to play on stage and will also be involved in the composition of the EPs Age of Wander, Split and the album Drowning For Love.
M.A BEAT! is boiling electro-acoustic music where organic sounds, world, jazz, rock are integrated in an exotic and electronic environment. French radio station Nova once described their sound as "drums dancing in your head. Smart music without being nerdy, at the crossroad of Tortoise and Fakear, real beauty".
The search for new experimentation goes beyond the walls of the studio. M.A BEAT! like to collaborate with a lot of musicians, like the legendary Shawn Lee, who is playing Polynesian ukulele on the song Morocco (Drowning For Love album). A unique collaboration that came to life inside the Comedy Club in Paris for a show with 2 drummers (including Shawn Lee) and a big band, during the night hosted by RKK, Le Lundi C'est Rmy in 2015.
On stage, the trio MPC / bass & keyboards / drums brings a strong live dynamic. Some people hear world music, some jazz, psychedelic or post rock. Everybody agrees that the energy and the mix is unique.
M.A BEAT! have opened for Fakear, Rone and Jurassic 5, they have toured Japan, and are playing at this years
Great Escape festival in Brighton.
From April 2016, the band will start a tour of more than 20 shows, including 9 gigs in Italy, Artenou Festival in Barcelona and clubs in France and Belgium.
