New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Matthew Barber and Jill Barber's solo careers combined encompasses 14 albums, and over 30 award nominations. The two beloved Canadian artists, who are also siblings, had never collaborated before releasing the appropriately titled 'The Family Album,' this spring. They're now getting ready to visit North America together for the first time to perform the album. Matthew and Jill, and their band, will be at Joe's Pub, on June 14th.
The singer-songwriters are no strangers to performing in the Big Apple. Matt played in the city while touring his lauded previous albums and Jill performed on Joe's Pub stage several times with her solo successes 'Fool's Gold' in 2014 and 'Mischievous Moon' in 2012.
'The Family Album' was highly praised by Rolling Stone Country. It includes "a gorgeous bluegrass-country ballad called 'Big Picture Window,'" and an "ethereal" cover of Neil Young's "Comes a Time," which they said instilled the tune "with a poignancy missing from the original." Jill and Matthew also brilliantly interpreted classics from the likes of Bobby Charles, Leonard Cohen, Townes Van Zandt and more. The album was equally praised by Wall Street Journal, Acoustic Guitar, and No Depression who said that the album "shimmers and its beauty is in its simplicity."
