NEW YORK (AP) - SANTA MONICA, Calif.(Reuters) - A big lineup of recording stars will perform classic Motown music at this year's annual City of Hope dinner, organizers said on Monday.
Among those planning to perform at the Oct. 11 are Mary J. Blige, Jon Bon Jovi, Roger Daltrey, Melissa Etheridge and Vince Gill.

This year's dinner will honor Edgar Bronfman Jr, executive vice chairman of Vivendi Universal.

Proceeds from the star-studded event, to be held on Universal Studios' backlot, will go to establish an honorary research fellowship in Bronfman's honor at the City of Hope National Medical Center and Beckman Research Institute.

The music and entertainment industry has raised more than $30 million for the City of Hope in its 27-year history. The center is a leading research and treatment center for cancer and other serious diseases, including diabetes and AIDs, located in the greater Los Angeles area.
