New York, NY (Top40 Charts) The Power Popaholic
Music Festival is an annual event that recognizes and celebrates melodic rock and power pop. This year, the indie festival will return to Brooklyn's "Bar Matchless" at 557 Manhattan Avenue in Brooklyn, New York on Friday, June 24 and Saturday, June 25, 2016. The event, which will benefit the
Spirit of Harmony Foundation, will feature local musicians, as well as those from across the country. The cost of the tickets is $10 per person, per day, and can be purchased on the day of the show at the door to the stage area of the bar.
Friday evening's performers will include Oberon Rose, The Connection, Dave Rave and The Reign, and Saturday night will feature Meyerman, The Modulators, Ray Paul and
Zombies of The Stratosphere with a special appearance by John Siegler and
Kevin Ellman from Todd Rundgren's Utopia.
A portion of the proceeds from the music festival will go towards the
Spirit of Harmony Foundation, an organization that supports music education and music performance for youth by nurturing the study of music through special events, public information, mentoring, advocacy, social entrepreneurship, and strategic partnerships. Founded by power pop music legend Todd Rundgren, the foundation advocates for instrument-based music education offered in schools and after-school programs, starting at the earliest age possible.
"The
Spirit of Harmony Foundation encourages young people to explore the world of music and we thought this benevolent effort would be the perfect fit," said
Aaron Kupferberg, organizer of the Power Popaholic
Music Festival. "We take great pride in working to help the foundation's programs through our music festival proceeds."
Started in 2006, Powerpopaholic.com is the premier music review blog for artists performing in the genre of power pop or melodic rock. "Many fans have learned about the festival's artists through our website, and are eager to hear them play live," said Mr. Kupferberg. "The success of last year's festival prompted us to expand it to two days, which will enable more fans to enjoy a greater number of bands."
