Providence-Based Power Trio The Silks To Release "Turn Me On" July 29, 2016
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) The Silks are a rare breed. The Providence-based power trio is known to tear up the stage with Southern rock fury one minute, then silence the crowd with some fine country picking the next. The group developed their chemistry the old fashioned way, the bar band way, playing marathon shows encompassing two 90 minute sets of all original material. They are releasing Turn Me On (the follow-up to their Paul Westerberg-produced debut) on July 29th. The self-produced new effort is a natural progression as these ridiculously talented men explore the junction of country, blues and rock n roll.

"Let It Ride opens the album with southern rock to the bone, showcasing the bands intimate grasp of musical dynamics, culminating in a powerful, psychedelic lead guitar. "Live and Learn"
Blue is a spare down-tempo tune the harmonica kicks off a reflective song that shares equals parts of country and blues. Closing it out is All Day, which features a classic garage fuzz guitar riff, and Kelly howling a refrain that announces to the world that he was born this way.

The growl of singer-guitarist Tyler-James Kellys voice rivals that of his guitar while the ace rhythm section of Jonas Parmalee and Uncle Sam Jodrey sweeten the sound with some fine honeyed harmonies. It doesnt take long for the sleepiest barroom to transform into a sweaty dancehall. I never wanted to be a solo artist, with a backing band, says Kelly. You can always get pros who can play behind you. But it doesnt have the organic feel of a band. I dont know what it is about playing with these cats. But we all totally lock in when we play. At the end of the day, were just a bunch of animals who want to rock. Its not a careerist thing. We got together so we could f*ckin play music together.

After releasing their first album, The Silks went to work, play some and large gigs, including opening for the The Replacements at The Fillmore in Detroit in the spring of 2015. They've also played in support of The Drive-By Truckers, Roky Erickson, Wanda Jackson, Black Joe Lewis and Deer Tick, among others. With a work ethic as old school as their ethos, the band continues to barnstorm up and down the east coast playing constant gigs, Those whove suffered through a bad bar band, tortured by the bombastic delivery of tired old covers, need to have their worldview altered by a night with The Silks.
