Elijah Shares "Wild Child" From Debut EP How's Annie Out August 5 On Old Flame Records
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) On August 5, the Brooklyn-based artist Elijah will release their debut EP How's Annie on Old Flame Records. The Wild Honey Pie premiered "Wild Child," the second single to be released from the EP, and said the track "attests to Elijahs impressive musicality and his ability to seamlessly connect the acoustic with the electronic."

Previously, Impose Magazine premiered the EP's title track along with a Q&A.

Elijah grew up in the town of Woodstock, New York; nestled within the Catskill Mountains. During his formative years, he spent his days at The Levon Helm Studio, watching the great Levon perform with his band, as well as local studios like Dreamland, where he witnessed the recording process of artists like Beach House, Dr. Dog, Yeasayer, and The Hold Steady.

Following high school, Elijah attended The Music Conservatory of Purchase and became friends with artists such as Mitski and Photay. There, Elijah recorded an EP under the name Elijah Wolf, which led to major placements in commercials anda featured song on Showtime's acclaimed series Shameless.

While at Purchase, Elijah was invited up to the Catskills to work on some original music in Sun Mountain Studio with Simone Felice (The Felice Brothers, The Duke & the King/Lumineers producer) & producer David Baron. Within the year following these sessions, Elijah was invited out on a national theatre tour with the legendary Gipsy Kings.

"It was unreal to play such large venues. When making that EP I had no clue it would lead to so many great experiences like playing the Beacon Theatre in New York, or getting to travel all over the world performing this music. It made me want to challenge myself, and make something with far more experience and knowledge."

Following this tour, Elijah was invited to open for the band at a sold out show in France at at LOlympia Theatre with The Gipsy Kings. Following that show, he traveled with the band to Montpellier in the South of France to work on new music with them in the studio.

"The Gipsy Kings taught me in detail about the complex rhythms used in their music. We spent many afternoons out on the old wine vineyard clapping along to traditional songs, creating poly-rhythms I had never even imagined. This inspired me so much to want to create rhythm based music, using some of these new skills they had taught me."

Upon returning to Brooklyn, Elijah teamed up with friends Dylan Debiase (bass), Juno Arreglado (synth/keyboards), and Zach Berns (drums) to work on new music in their Brooklyn studio.

"I was so inspired by all of the Brooklyn noises. The Machinery, the bands, the electronics, the buildings inspired by some of the greats like Arthur Russell, Smiths. & influenced by the current music of New York; like Blood Orange and Porches. Inspired, I began making dance music."

The result is How's Annie, Elijah's debut EP that was inspired by the Cult Classic TV series Twin Peaks, which he found a deep connection with when going through this musical transition. As I was searching the world for influences, I decided to watch the David Lynch classic, which lead me to a wave of creations detailing this experience. Lynch successfully created a story bridging the gap between experimental avant garde and pop. Much like the soundtrack, the story is inspired by traditional folklore, brought to life by modern experimentation. He adds, "Hows Annie is a question asked in the show, yet it is barely a question. It is more of a statement, which explores the depths of love, surrender, and darkness.

Tour Dates:

8/26: Olivebridge, NY - The Summer Hoot
