Kate Brown Shines On Dynamic Water From Ashes
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Folk singer/songwriter, Kate Brown, released her newest EP, Water From Ashes - a vivid, artfully crafted journey of love, loss and the difficulties of working towards an unknown future. Brown's sharp, poetic lyricism blends impeccably with her velvet vocals and expressive guitar hooks to produce enthralling acoustic anthems. Water From Ashes is now available for download on iTunes.

Drawing elements from Americana, folk and rock, Brown skillfully recounts the difficulties of her past and her concern about the state of the world, while also exhibiting her resilience in advancing forward. The first track on Water From Ashes, "Cartwheel", highlights Brown's exiting of a relationship that she realizes is toxic. Her tone of certainty and deep timbre, combined with locomotive-like guitar work, leaves a lasting impression. Recognizing her own grit, she sings, "I'm a one-way ticket, I'm a hell of a deal, go ahead and cry yourself to sleep if you don't know how you feel, cause I'm on a mission to stay in motion like a cartwheel." Brown's desire to boldly push on, which she raises continuously throughout the EP, illuminates her aspiration to depart from past sorrows. "This is a collection of extremely personal songs written in a time of great transition... For me, they build a real bridge between old pain and new joy," Brown comments. "They are a reflection of my intense connection to home and the past while giving wings to the ideas of moving on, free flight and forward motion." The EP's lead single, "6 Shots" is a powerhouse folk-rock anthem that reveals the raw passion of an infuriating love and was released earlier this spring on iTunes and Spotify. Produced by Tyler Fortier, the remaining tracks on the EP include "Damned 'Ol Jesus," "Come On," "Troubled Man," and "Weepin'," masterpieces filled with evocative lyrics and vocals that tug on your heartstrings.

Born and raised in the town of Mount Pleasant, Iowa, Brown was brought up in a family of musicians who helped to cultivate her artistic nature. Her yearning to pursue music led to her drop out of college and begin to traverse the country selling homemade CDs and performing in coffeehouses. Brown enrolled in an intensive course at the School at Steppenwolf in Chicago, where she met and connected with fellow actor and musician, Tony Sancho. After realizing a shared appreciation for music and the arts, Brown and Sancho combined to form the Kate Brown Band. The duo's intense chemistry is especially evident in their instinctive onstage presence. Kate Brown has performed at notable Los Angeles venues like Hotel Café, Room 5 and Silverlake Lounge.

Kate Brown's modern approach to folk storytelling unquestionably gleams on Water From Ashes. After much anticipation, Brown's EP excels with a diverse set of captivating, relatable anthems.
