NEW YORK (Reuben Hoch and Time/ www.chassidicjazz.com) - Jazz Drummer extraordinaire, Reuben Hoch, hailing from sunny South Florida brings plenty of heat and fire to his three night New York city stint. Hoch known for his cutting edge work with The Chassidic Jazz Project shows his versatility while leading his new jazz trio, Time, joined by pianist Sam Barsh of Avishai Cohen's group and master bassist Ed Schuller of Joe Lovano's band.
The trio takes the creative essence of the jazz art form to new heights. Hoch's Chassidic Jazz Project boasts the world's finest musicians such as Weather Report hand drummer
Bobby Thomas jr. and reed man Felipe Lamoglia who shares his talents with the bands of Gonzalo Rubalcaba and Arturo Sandoval.
To quote Hoch, "complacency is not my thing! Miles and Trane never took the low road. They always raised the barline for everyone else". Hoch has always aspired to do just that as leader of his previous group The RH Factor or sideman in the adventurous Israeli jazz quartet, Zaviot.
Hoch's career boasts appearances and recordings with the likes of Dave Liebman, Jim Pepper, Greg Osby, Lonnie Plaxico, Ron McClure, Richie Vitale, Scott Lee, Bobby Thomas Jr., Don Friedman, Leni Stern, Jeff Andrews and Christoph Spendel to name a few.
Hoch goes on to record a new CD with, Time, on Naim records later in January joined by pianist Don Friedman and bassist Ed Schuller. Hoch plans to make a major musical statement in this trio format; "The musical potential of the trio format is endless. Three musicians can exponentially create endless possibilities".
