Elise Davis Announces Fall Tour Dates With Jonathan Tyler & The Black Lillies, Named Tidal Rising Artist Of The Week
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Last Friday, Elise Davis released her stunning debut album The Token via Thirty Tigers. In celebration of the new release, Davis has announced a fall tour with dates supporting Jonathan Tyler and The Black Lillies. She will also perform on NPR's Mountain Stage on October 8th and at the Austin City Limits Music Festival on October 9th.

Today, Davis was named one of TIDAL Rising's "This Week's 5 Artists To Watch."
TIDAL said "a rich and highly personal sonic tapestry focusing on her path to the present, The Token is at the same time a steady rocking ('Benefits'), passionate ('The Token') and honest ('Pretty Girl') country-tinged record bound to make an impression."
Recently, Noisey premiered The Token in its entirety and said "Like Miranda Lambert and Kacey Musgraves, she brings a soulful, rock-like spunk to a genre that sorely needs it."

Rolling Stone Country has also named Elise Davis one of "10 New Country Artists You Need To Know" and praised the album for its "14 indelible and deeply personal songs."

Over the last few months, Elise and her debut have earned praised from The Nashville Scene, American Songwriter, The Tennessean, PopMatters, BULLETT and more.

The Token was produced by Sam Kassirer keyboardist in Josh Ritter's band and an accomplished producer known for work with the likes of Ritter, Lake Street Dive, Erin McKeown, Langhorne Slim, and others. During the winter of 2015, Davis and Kassirer decamped to his Great Northern Sound Society studio in rural Maine to record the album.

The instrumental support was delivered by guitarist Josh Kaufman (Day of the Dead collaborator with Aaron and Bryce Dessner of The National, Craig Finn, Bob Weir), bassist Bradley Cook (Sharon Van Etten, Indigo Girls), drummer Matt McCaughan (Bon Iver, Hiss Golden Messenger).

The Token puts a microscope on the southern dynamic between the sexes, and the Little Rock, AR natives inner turmoil, founded on her lifes trajectory against a more traditional path.

I really cant express my vulnerable feelings especially towards men I've had feelings for over the years, Elise confesses, But, I have no trouble writing down painfully honest lyrics about it.

The Token is a rare piece of art born of risk and actually sounding like a risk that paid off. Elise Davis is putting her human condition in the forefront for all to hear; The Token delivers an unrelenting living contradiction, one born of her past while wrestling with the present.

The Token is now available for purchase via iTunes and Amazon, as well as on CD and limited edition double-disc 180 gram transparent vinyl.
