Ginger Ale & The Monowhales Share Indie-Pop EP Early On Allmusic
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) The Toronto indie-pop band Ginger Ale & The Monowhales is streaming their debut EP BANG now on AllMusic.com, ahead of its 10/14 release. The five track offering begins with "Home," a charming piece of pop meets garage rock that celebrates the band's hometown. The accompanied video racked up over 200,000 views in seven days on Facebook, landing them some airtime on Global News, Sirius and even a shout-out from the mayor of Toronto, John Tory.

"When you take the individual life experiences of four best friends, mix in the struggles of making it as an indie band, and combine that with the love of a supportive army of fans...BANG, you get the EP you see before you," says vocalist Sally Shaar. "This album represents some of our highest peaks and lowest lows, with themes running the gamut from the empowering self-determination of 'Name For Myself' to the anguish of unrequited love on the closing track 'Don't Talk.'
The experience of creating this album permeated all aspects of our lives, from working on the lyrics and arrangement of 'Home' while our producer, Phil, cooked us pasta in the next room, to staying up all night piecing together samples of clocks for 'Let It Fall' before the mix session the next day. While we pour our blood and sweat into this band every day, when you take a look at our incredibly long list of credits it becomes plain to see that this music was forged in the fires of a deeply caring and hardworking group of friends and collaborators.
Every time we're recognized on the streets of Toronto, or perform to a room of appreciative fans, we know that the opportunity to do this is a precious gift from those we love. It seems only fair to give something in return, so we hope this record gives you something to sink your teeth into, a bit of sonic sustenance to satiate those hungry ears of yours."
