New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Talitha Rise is Jo-Beth Young and Martyn Barker, who are working together on the band's first album due for release in the spring of 2017.
Jo Beth Young, raised in a Sussex village, is a singer-songwriter who also provides guitar, bass, keyboard, ukulele and dulcimer on her tracks. Her vocal range evokes an emotional response in audiences as she performs mesmerising harmonies and a raw and authentic mix of battle cries and lullabies, reflecting on what she says are the 'terminal condition of being alive'.
Martyn Barker first rose to fame as the drummer in North London punk rock band Shriekback, before he went on to form King Swamp with Shriekback founder and vocalist Dave Allen in 1988.
As well as composing, producing and playing various instruments, as a drummer and percussionist Barker has toured and played session with many names including Billy Bragg and Paula Rae Gibson, who collaborated with Barker and Will Gregory of
Goldfrapp on her second album in 2008.
Fatea Magazine, which has been published since 1990, reviews albums by emerging and established artists and runs showcases and the Cambridge Folk Festival, says of Talitha Rise: "The first song left me breathless. Their songs are ethereal, intricately complex and with the help of beautiful harmonies, echo and pure musicianship they both produce a full sound that many full bands fail to achieve".
Invisible Fishing is released on Aardvark Records and is now available on both CD and digital formats.
