The band says, "With over 19,000 albums sold in the first week, Mothership is by far DGD's most successful album to date...but DGD fans, you the real MVPs"
The genre-bending 5-piece's current headline tour is selling out large venues across the US and Canada and runs through October 27, with support from The Contortionist, Hail The Sun and Good Tiger.
Mothership is now available on MerchNow, iTunes, Spotify, Amazon and Google Play.
Praise for Mothership:
""Mothership," the seventh album from Dance Gavin Dance, resists pigeonholing... While there are echoes of expansive recent rock acts like the
Mars Volta and Coheed and Cambria, both of which combine prog's opened-mind scope with heavier sounds borrowed from hardcore punk and metal, "
Mothership" offers surprising twists... Giving it a spin or two shines a light on a swath of heavy, ambitious, and sometimes witty rock that seizes on the past few decades of edge-dwelling music, places it all in a blender, and puts the speed on high."-
Boston Globe
"A bold effort for album no.7.
Dance Gavin Dance are powering forward with 'Mothership'."- Rock Sound
"The California-based band's seventh full-length redefines the limits of post-hardcore with this experimental yet cohesive release...one of the most impressive records to be released in 2016." (5 stars)- New Noise Magazine
"Firstly, if you want sick, progressive riffs then Will Swan delivers in spades. This is probably DGD's most guitar-elaborate and intricate record. Bursting with so many jazz, blues, post-rock and psych riffs at all angles -- like Omar Rodriguez (ATDI, The Mars Volta) on speed. Not to mention the incessant drive of Matt Mingus' drums -- pounding to say the least. That said, most of Mothership caters to Pearson's silky-smooth voice. They let him flex out and stretch his cords seductively."- Punknews
" Dance Gavin Dance's music has always been held to a certain standard, both by the fans and the band itself, and this album does not disappoint. With a diversity of songs that flow effortlessly between one another, Mothership is a breathtaking reminder of how fantastic the post-hardcore genre can be."
- Sailor's Talk Magazine
"Never ever seeming to disappoint,
Dance Gavin Dance has done it again. With another great record under their belt, there is no telling what they will do next. In fact, this may be their best album to date.."- CrypticRock.com
"What makes Mothership a cut above the rest is that the extremities of the band's sound have been pushed further than ever, and wholly embraced. " - Caliber TV
"These songs shine with technical mastery, yet also with purpose, and this emotional backbone is what gives Mothership its appeal on repeat listens, when the initial shine of technical impressiveness is no longer enough.
Embrace the cult, because
Dance Gavin Dance is here to stay."-
