Loving Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Coming Soon
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Back Lot Music will release the LOVING - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack digitally on November 11th, and physically on November 18th. The album features the movie's original score by David Wingo, as well as a new original song, "Loving," by Ben Nichols of the band Lucero. Loving, written and directed by Jeff Nichols, was a success at this year's Cannes, Toronto, and Hamptons International Film Festivals, and is being released by Focus Features in select cities on November 4th, expanding across the country throughout November.

MPAA-rated "PG-13," Loving celebrates the real-life courage and commitment of an interracial couple, Richard and Mildred Loving (Joel Edgerton and Ruth Negga), who married and then spent the next nine years fighting for the right to live as a family in their hometown. Their civil rights case, Loving v. Virginia, went all the way to the Supreme Court, which in 1967 reaffirmed the very foundation of the right to marry - and their love story has become an inspiration to couples ever since.

Filmmaker Nichols collaborated with composer Wingo on their fourth movie together. In regards to scoring the new film, Wingo says, "Jeff [Nichols] at the end of the day saw Loving first and foremost as a love story and that was how he wanted to tell it, so the score needed to be elemental and simple to a certain degree while avoiding any sentimentality to capture the grace and beauty of Richard and Mildred. All of my scores for Jeff have had orchestral elements to varying degrees but he knew that the main themes for Loving needed to be traditional orchestral score without any modern elements. The other main thing that Jeff needed the score to accomplish was to really reflect the always-present anxiety and tension that they were living with all these years. Those pieces don't just operate in a different way than the other themes but are completely different instrumentation as well, with hardly any orchestral elements."

Wingo got his start composing music for films on David Gordon Green's debut feature George Washington, collaborating on the score with Michael Linnen. Wingo and Linnen collaborated again on Green's Sundance Award-winning follow-up All the Real Girls, and since that time Wingo has worked with Green on a majority of his films. His score for Jeff Nichols' Take Shelter, which won the Critics Week Grand Prize at the Cannes Film Festival, landed him a Discovery Of The Year Award nomination at the World Soundtrack Awards.

Wingo scored Nichols' Mud, which was released in 2013 to worldwide acclaim and went on to become the breakout indie hit of the year. The last couple of years have been Wingo's busiest yet and most recently include two Warner Bros. films: Green's Our Brand is Crisis, starring Sandra Bullock, and Nichols' Midnight Special. Wingo has also been active with his band Ola Podrida since 2006, releasing three acclaimed full-length albums and touring the U.S. and Europe multiple times.
