Cipha
Sounds got his first break interning for Funkmaster Flex which lead to a 17-year career at NYC's hip hop station Hot 97, including hosting the #1 morning show. His tireless work ethic and perceptive DJ skills earned him opening slots at legendary NYC nightspots like the Tunnel and Palladium. Soon after that, Cipha found himself spinning for Lil Kim,
Mos Def and JAY Z on national tours, and rocking private parties and album release events for superstars like Diddy,
Eminem and Mariah Carey. Cipha's ear for talent and club honed musical instincts also made him a natural A&R executive, a position he has held with labels ranging from Tommy Boy, Neptunes' Star Trak imprint with
Pharrell Williams and Roc-A-Fella with JAY Z. Cipha helped usher in such talent as Rihanna,
Rick Ross and Sean Paul. He is also no stranger to TV and comedy success. Over the years, his jobs have ranged from hosting "Sucker Free" and "Total Request Live" on MTV, to on-air DJ for the legendary Chappelle show.
Cipha also set a goal to take over the improv comedy world. After studying at the UCB Theatre for more than two years, Cipha headlines a weekly sold out comedy show - "Take It Personal: Hip Hop Improv Show". Recent guests have included 2 Chainz, Victor Cruz, Swizz Beatz, Questlove,
Kevin Hart, and Zoe Kravitz. Cipha has teamed up with
Alicia Keys to transform the improv show into a television series. Whether DJing or performing stand-up comedy around the world, Cipha radiates personality, driving every project with his likeable demeanor and confident tastes. Just as comfortable on stage as he is behind the turntables, Cipha
Sounds has carved out a distinct voice in music and comedy over the past 15 years.
